Sustainability in Advisory Services

As immigration advice consists of using our knowledge, skill and experience to make successful visa applications and appeals against unfair decisions by INZ, there may seem to be a limit to the steps we can take to reduce our carbon footprint or maximise sustainable development. We believe that the biggest limitation is the mindset that matters of immigration law must be managed in a tall office building by suit-wearing professionals aided by a vast library of legal references. While this is traditionally the case, for us this has become a bit out of date.

We want to move away from the necessity of having an office in a  building in town and therefore reduce the time we spend on travelling and the doubling of resources. Going to the office everyday significantly adds to our carbon footprint, not only through use of petrol, oil, tyres, etc, but also doubled use of electricity and other resources at home and in the office as well. We need computers, internet and office equipment at home as well as in the office, but as home is our base, it makes sense that we use it as such.

We still maintain an office at this time because we get the need for it still for some people, but we are encouraging clients to use technology or become used to alternative ways of meeting so hopefully soon we can go completely flexible.
